COMMUNITY RECOGNITION
IDEAS / TIPS
Business
Partnership Luncheon:
Businesses get involved in schools in a variety of ways.
Some give money, and others give their valuable time.
Creating ties between the school and business community
is good for all stakeholders. Local businesses
often afford students opportunities to participate
in job shadowing programs. Job shadowing is a great way
to expose students to potential career interests. Thank
businesses by inviting them to an ASB-sponsored
luncheon at your school. During the luncheon, have both
your choir and band perform. Make the luncheon a very
special and memorable experience for these business
owners.
Principal of
the Day:
Invite community members into your school to shadow the
principal for a day. Try to get a new “Principal of the
Day” participant every month. These participants enjoy
seeing the great things taking place inside their
community school. Be sure to buy the “Principal of the
Day” lunch.
Thank You
Card Campaign:
Local businesses are constantly being approached by
schools to donate money for specific programs. Many of
these local businesses are very generous and give both
time and money to their community schools. Therefore, it
is important to keep track of local businesses who are
actively involved in your school. Once a month, have your
ASB students write thank you cards to these businesses,
expressing gratitude for their generosity. At the end of
the year, purchase plaques for the local businesses who
give large sums of money. These businesses like to
display these plaques in their store fronts.
