Get The Year Started RightI have been Activities director for 5 years now. Two years ago was my worst year as far as student respect during meetings. Last year I came down on my kids at the beginning of the year and told them that talking is not acceptable during meetings. I had the students taking notes and raising their hands when they want to be called on. Being strict paid off at the beginning of the year because it made things much easier the rest of the year. I think the hardest part is that I am not running the meetings, but my class president is. So I also work with the president on good meeting skills and how run good meetings.Ben Star - Irvine, CA (Aug 14, 2011)

How To Keep Kids Quiet During MeetingsA good idea is to add a "chatter-box". A chatter box is a box that the students can decorate and whenever a student talks during a meeting they add a quarter. At the end of the year all of the money from the box goes to a charity of the kid’s choice! It's a good way to end talking and make money for a charity!Thomas Yergler - Anaheim, CA (May 18, 2012)
