Fundraisers
Pennies For PatientsThe Pennies for Patients program is sponsored by the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. They have a full program including posters, a video, boxes to collect money, presenters and they even offer a school wide prize for the total amount of money brought in. One of the things that I like about this program is that we also get the opportunity to educate the kids about Leukemia. When the fundraiser is all over you have to count and sort all of the money. I found that our local credit union has a change machine that is free for members. I was able to take each box (one classroom) and dump it into the machine which gave me the class total. I then documented the total and at the end was able to get the bank to write a money order to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society for free. If you don’t have a local credit union, you can probably talk to your bank and let them know what you are doing and I am sure they would be more than willing to help out.
I have attached two documents to this article. One is the fundraiser totals. We use this to calculate our totals. Also I have attached a sample of our announcements that we use to get the students hooked in.Fundraiser Totals (.xls)
