MTV
has a show called “MTV Cribs” that the students love. Try using the concept of “Cribs” for a rally. Instead of introducing the captains of each fall sport team, ask a few of the athletes to take you on a behind-the-scene tour of their
cribs (houses-cars-etc…). Then, as part of the rally, show these
clips to the audience. Listed below are some of the steps you will
need to take in order to execute this rally:
1)
You will
need video footage of each person/crib you highlight. Also, you will want to
pick up good sound bytes of what the featured student is saying. Most
of the footage will probably have background music that you can add
later, but it’s fun to highlight the witty things the students say, too.
2)
Have the
camera director approach the house with the camera on, knock on the door, and go
for a tour. Ask the person who is being filmed to share
things of
interest to the camera, such as baby pictures, cars, CD collections, etc…
3)
Edit the
video before the rally. Make sure there is no inappropriate content in the
video.
4)
You will
most likely need the use of a projector to show the video during the rally.
5)
I suggest
breaking the segments up. For example, show the captain of the football
team’s crib, then let cheer or dance team perform before you show the crib of the
tennis team’s captain, and so forth.
A
great class competition for this rally is to borrow articles or objects from
each featured studen'ts house. After the participants have seen all the crib
footage, they must match the article/object to the person to whom it
belongs.
