Purchase a car from a salvage yard. Make sure the car
you purchase can be delivered and picked up after the
activity by the salvage company. Place the car in the
middle of campus, and allow the students to smash it
with a sledge hammer. Charge each student $1 for 10
swings at the car. Prior to bringing the car on campus,
ask the salvage company to drain all the fluids from the
car. Also, be sure to place a
large tarp underneath the car. You want to make sure you
don’t cause any damage to your school property. For fun,
you can paint the car in your rival school's colors for an added
effect. This activity is popular the
same day of a car show.
Make sure you are taking all the appropriate steps to
ensure a safe activity.
Some school districts may not
allow this event to be held as a result of its possible
risks. FCMAT considers this to be an unallowable
fundraiser.
